Abstract

The origination of a fire requires a source of energy convertible into heat and the availability of a quantity of flammable material. Electricity is an energy source generally available in most buildings; accordingly, the involvement of electricity is usually considered in determining a fires cause and origin. In most occurrences, only a limited number of simple electrical concepts are employed; then, if satisfactory answers regarding an electrical cause and origin for the fire are not apparent, more complex electrical phenomena can be considered.
