Abstract

The Forensic Engineer Was Directed To Seek The Cause Of A Plumbing Related Issue That Affected The Building Envelope. During The Investigation Multiple Causes Of Moisture Intrusion Into The Hotel Were Discovered. This Design Is Very Typical And Represents The Common Causes Of Failure Found In Many Hotels In Florida. The Control Of Moisture In Buildings In Hot And Humid Climates Is The Number One Complaint, And Source Of Litigation From Owners. The Design Professionals And The Contractor Must Understand Moisture Management And Control Strategies To Better Design And Build Buildings And Conditioning Systems. In Reality, The Real Issue Was An Hv Ac Design By A Northern Engineer For A Tropical Location.
