Abstract

A Homeowner Fell Through A Bedroom Wall Opening For A Yet-To-Be Built Deck When A Wood Barrier Gave Way As He Leaned Against It. His Fall Resulted In Two Broken Legs; He Was Disabled And Received A Jury Verdict Primarily Due To The Original Carpenters Negligence. An Investigation Was Conducted To Find Out Why The Barrier Failed So Suddenly. It Was Determined That The Barrier Was Insufficient And Improperly Installed In A Number Of Ways. These Findings Were Based On The Boca Code, Asce And Osha Standards.
