Abstract

Contrasting Opinions On The Failure Of A Metal Plate Connected Wood Truss Will Be Discussed. A Fundamental Lack Of Definition And Information For The Erection Bracing Is In Many Cases The Reason For The Failure During The Critical Erection Phase. Bracing For The Temporary System Before The Installation Of Permanent Bracing Is Very Well Documented, But Similar Information For Use During The Erection Phase Is Lacking In The Literature For The Metal Plate Connected Wood Truss Industry. The Erection Contractor Is Forced To Decide, Without A Realistic Set Of Guidelines, How Much Erection Bracing Is Necessary To Assure The Safety Of The Job Without Excessive Cost. Even With Adequate Erection Bracing A Faulty Truss Can Cause An Accident.
